My aim is to create a portrait of your pet that captures their personality and celebrates their unique beauty. I will work closely with you to ensure the details of your portrait meet your requirements. Finding out about your pet's story and your relationship with them is an important and enjoyable part of the commission process.

All prices are based on a one subject portrait. Please add 25% for a double portrait. If you would like a portrait with more than two subjects or a background I will provide a specific quote.

Commission process

The first steps in the commission process are for you to decide upon the portrait size and reference photo that you'd like me to use. In order to ensure the best portrait outcome, I recommend collating a selection of photos of your pet. We can then review them together and discuss them in the context of your portrait composition. I generally draw headshot portraits with a plain white background. If you would like a background added or a full body portrait we can discuss this in detail and I will provide a revised quote for this work where necessary.

An ideal reference photo will be a high resolution digital image taken in natural outdoor light on a fine day, avoiding dark shadows and bright highlights which reduce the ability to see fine details in the image. Photos taken up close and at eye level with your pet work well. Your pet may be looking directly at the camera or slightly to one side.

Once we have agreed upon the portrait size and details and chosen the main reference photo, I request a 30% deposit to secure your booking in my commission schedule. Before I commence your portrait, I will contact you to double check the details of your portrait commission and provide you with a timeline for the completion of your portrait. Payment of the balance of the portrait price will be requested upon completion, once you have reviewed a final photo of the image. If you'd like to be sent progress photos during the drawing process please let me know and I will send you regular updates.

Materials

I ensure that all of the materials I use to create my art are of the highest quality. The fine art paper and coloured pencils I work with are lightfast and archival quality. The surface I most often use for each portrait is Fabriano Artistico Hot Pressed Watercolour paper (640gsm) and my coloured pencils of choice are Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran d'Ache Luminance, Caran d'Ache Pablo and Derwent Lightfast.

Your finished portrait will be presented in a beautiful gift box or folio (depending on the size of the artwork) and will be accompanied by care instructions.

UK postage is included in the price of your portrait and I use the Royal Mail guaranteed next day delivery and sign for service. For portraits that require international shipping, I will provide a quote for postage. All international deliveries will be sent using a tracked service.

Recording my drawing process

During the process of drawing your portrait, I will share progress updates via photo and video posts on my social media pages so you will be able to see the portrait come to life. You may of course wish to wait until the portrait is complete to see it for the first time.

Gift vouchers

If you would like to gift a portrait to a friend or family member, vouchers are available. A gift voucher can be provided for a particular portrait size or a monetary value of your choosing. The personalised voucher will be presented in a luxury ribboned gift box and is valid for two years from the date of purchase. If you are interested in purchasing a gift voucher please get in touch.
